Pianist

Besides her own compositions and contemporary repertoire, Rieteke Hölscher plays the usual classical repertoire, with works of J.S. Bach, F. Chopin, F. Liszt (including concert etudes), S. Rachmaninoff, C. Debussy, B. Bartók and many, many other composers. In addition, improvisation plays a major role in her performances (including most jazz standards from the Real Book) as well as many vocal -, flute and violin accompaniments. Occasionally she also plays the church organ and she leads various masterclasses in small project groups (for singers).

In 2015, Rieteke founded Ensemble Cross Meeting together with master students from the Utrecht Conservatory (Kirsti Apajalahti - violin, Pau Marquès i Oleo - cello, Joel Vega Salgado - oboe). The ensemble still performs with own compositions in various line-ups.

Shadows & Dances

Upcoming album plans for a contemporary piano album featuring own compositions. The album will include seven new solo works under the theme of Shadows, each inspired by personal memories. The resulting emotions are expressed musically and will resonate with our collective consciousness. In contrast to these pieces are the lighter Double Dutch Dances for piano four hands : energetic, rhythmically pieces inspired by traditional Dutch children’s games. These dances capture the playful, connecting, and sometimes chaotic nature of play with seductive sounds, sharp dissonances, and sparkling rhythms illustrating childlike dynamics. The album takes listeners on a musical journey from darkness to light, from reflection to play, inviting them to experience both worlds. More news will follow in mid-2026.
